Theresa A. and Henry P. Biggs Centennial Term Chair in Linguistics
This is an endowed term chair in Linguistics, made
possible by a donation from Theresa and Henry Biggs. The "Centennial"
part reflects additional funding from the UCLA Centennial (1919-2019)
fundraising campaign.
The chair will facilitate research and teaching by the holder (I am the
first Biggs Chair) and will rotate among faculty in the Linguistics
Department. It also provides substantial fellowship support for
the department's graduate students.
Theresa and Henry Biggs were graduate students in the UCLA Romance Linguistics program during the 1990's, who went on to distinguished teaching careers; I was privileged to be Henry's dissertation adviser. They are super-nice people.
